About Me


Welcome to my website! I’m a sociologist and health researcher with more than 30 years experience in academic and non-academic environments. My publications in professional outlets number more than 100, along with 10 books, more than a dozen reports, and other formats.I conduct research on topics such as adolescent and adult substance use, illegal behaviors, mental health challenges, entheogens, sacred plant medicines, and religion and spirituality. I have developed and directed several large and small research projects as part of my grant and mentoring work.My areas of proficiency include data management and presentation, a wide array of statistical models, machine learning, statistical software (R, Stata, and Python), research methods, qualitative interviewing, grant preparation, teaching and training, and writing for academic and non-academic audiences.You may find links to my ORCID, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, Github, and LinkedIn sites below.
